Deciding on the location of the units is an important factor if you are going to use the stored items frequently. The need for a tool or a bike or even a piece of furniture may arise at certain times. So, if the unit is located within a stone's throw of your house, then it meets the purpose of storing the items, and at the same time allowing you access to them when they are required immediately. The location should be such that it saves your time, and storing and retrieving the items from the unit fits into your daily schedule.
As you go through the following storage suggestions, pay close attention to whether any of these ideas will complement your home's dcor. Apart from implementing an idea, what you should also focus on is a smooth transition (storing option) so that you don't end up spending too much.
Lastly, as mentioned above, remember the golden rule. You should research a lot in the market to get things/furniture that you actually need and that will serve dual purpose. This will definitely help save a lot of space and help in storing a great deal of stuff. Good luck!
Purchase a few wicker baskets from a local store, and grab a handful of nails and a hammer for the project. Pick a spot to hang the baskets in place, and load them up with CDs and DVDs. You can even label the baskets with paper tags depending on what the baskets contain. Group the items together by category-wise or alphabetically so that it's easy for you to find the items later on.
